Hey Lady ;)

So Monday night, I decided I was hungry and went inside the main house to get something to eat. Three of the kids were still eating their dinner at the table so I sat down with them. I sit down and barely take a bite before I realize this is going to turn into an interrogation.
One of the boys sits across from me and he says, "Auntie Devyn, where were you born?"
I said Duluth, Minnesota.
He said, "What's Minnesota??"
So I explained it is a state next to Wisconsin.
"Oh, Alright. Auntie Devyn, how were you born?"
I said, "Well, my mom had a surgery..."
"Auntie Devyn!! That is not how babies are born!!", the little girl yells.
I said, "Yes, sometimes that is how babies are born."
I tried to kind of explain it, but I didn't get anywhere. They ended up telling me all the ways they thought babies were born, and they asked me how I was going to have my babies. Well, this topic has come up before and I told them I was only going to adopt. But this is not an acceptable answer apparently, because they went on to tell me how I was going to have my babies, and adoption was not part of it.
They were also telling how I was going to meet my husband. He is going to raise his eyebrows at me, and in a voice just like Johnny Bravo he will say, "Hey Lady! Wanna go out on a date sometime?", or "Hey Lady! You got some nice boobies". It sounds like he will be a real winner, ney?

Today, I was sitting with a couple of the younger girls, and they were giving me tips on how to get a boyfriend. I don't dress well enough I guess. So I asked what I should do, and this is what I was told:
-I need to not wear jeans all the time, I need to get a nice red dress
-I need to wear more lip gloss
-I need to get an earring in my nose and in my tongue
-I need to wear high heels
-and I need to do my hair nicely more often
This is what the boys like.
I listened, but I will most likely not be taking any of their advice. I am going to continue to wear my jeans and there is no way I will even attempt to wear high heels, sorry boys.
These kids don't seem to understand that there are some things that don't really concern them. Which is fine I suppose, because I am having a great time listening to their advice (:

They never fail to make your day, whether they are giving you advice on how to pick up cute boys, explaining how cute boys are going to pick you up, or trying to predict the way your babies are going to be born.

First (:

Well, I have decided to start a blog, basically to get my mom off my back. Apparently I am not writing in my diary enough for her liking. Writing in a diary sounds nice, but it is sooo boring. I am like pumped up for a week or two, and then its like, really, I have much better things to do than write about my day. Like eat, sleep, Facebook, read Cosmo, and drool over Mike Posner music videos, obviously. So the next best thing, I suppose, would be to write in a blog.

Lately, I have been volunteering at L
ambano Sanctuary in South Africa. My life these days revolves around 40 children. I do school runs, help with homework, get groceries, and basically just spend time with the kids.

Since I have arrived in South Africa, the
main topic of most of my conversations with the kids has been whether or not I have a boyfriend. Apparently since I am eighteen, I must have a boyfriend. So for the last three months the kids have been trying to find me a boyfriend so I will marry a South African and stay here forever.

There was one incident where one of the vehicles broke down about a block away from our house. I got out w
ith the boys to push it. About halfway home, a man stops and asks if we want help. I said yes, obviously. Well leave it to one of the boys to promptly ask, "Auntie Devyn, is he cute for you?". I didn't even have to turn my head to know that the man had heard, I could hear him burst out laughing. The rest of the way home was very awkward after that. The kids are very good at embarrassing me!

This past week, the kids in primary sch
ool had their concerts at school. They did such a nice job! I was so proud of them! It was fun to see the actual concert after watching them practice for the past few months.

The kids were so excited all week. It was very difficult to try to do homework with them! All they cared about was singing, dancing and dressing up for the concert. A few of the kids are still wearing parts of their costumes!

That is the only real exciting news for this week. Here goes my first post!!! (:
